to file under things i've learned about living in WA:
you have to collect the mail from the mailbox fairly quickly otherwise the snails eat it. yup, the snails like to devour the mail. there was no need to open one of my envelopes this morning, as the snails managed in a day to do some serious damage to it. least they didn't eat the actual debit card.
